Multilayer scraped surface heat exchanger for solids

In corporation with a workshop in Baoding(China) a customized torrefier was developed, providing a sealed environment in which biomass is heated up to 250 °C and remaining in anaerobic conditions for a variable period of time, sufficient to breakdown and gasify the hemicellose/lignine imbedded in the biomass.

The volumetric capacity of the torrefier is 13,5 m3/hr for a residence time of 20 min.

As the off gas from biomass contains chlorides , all 20 platforms are made from stainless steel.

Due to its concept the torrefier can have many other application to heat, dry or cool a vast range of other solids than biomass.
